Capitol. Myth, memory and archaeology

In exposition there are some rare archive documents, paintings, engravings, sculptures and inhedits archeological finds to narrate the urbanistc transformations of the Capitol.
The aim of the exhibition is to reconstruct the deep transformations of the Capitol, starting from the mythic and romantic vision that the holy Hill has always inspired to the artists, antiquaries and European litterates until the beginning of the XIX century.
The exhibition is divided into six main sections. The romantic and the mythic vision. The Caffarellis
and the Prussians with their properties. The proclamation of Roma Capitale and the new task of the Capitol. The activity of the “Governatorato”. The archaeological research. Trough the archivial works and the historical works is narrated the most recent history of this part of the Capitol, mostly unknown, and a particular section is dedicated to the recent archaeological finds which has allowed to rebuild the ancient decoration of “ Giove Capitolino”.
